Operation Toofan, The Narco Hunt
"Operation Thoofan The Narco Hunt" is a new initiative launched by the Kerala Police to uproot the drug mafia. The project is being implemented jointly with the cooperation of the Departments of Education, Health, Excise, and Local Self-Government. The state-level inauguration of the second phase of the project was conducted by Chief Minister Shri. V D Satheesan at a function held at A R Nagar Grama Panchayat in Malappuram district at 11 AM on 28-09-2026.
Through this project, the Kerala Police aims to take strong legal action against drug mafias and build a large-scale public resistance with public participation. The project has been conceived in a manner suited to the digital age to counter the rapid spread of synthetic drugs. Along with issuing a stern warning of the law to drug mafias, this mission also aims to ensure a complete sense of security for ordinary people.
To dismantle the inter-state drug mafia, joint plans will be formulated in consultation with the police chiefs of other South Indian states. An extensive digital surveillance system, including apps and WhatsApp chatbots, will be set up to anonymously share information about drug trafficking. The police will ensure the protection of those who provide confidential information.
